What you should know
The Ultra 4 is not simply a larger Series 12. Its titanium build, outdoor controls and longer GPS workout modes make it a specialist iPhone watch for people who actually spend whole days tracking activities away from a charger.
Hardware and what actually changes
Apple lists a new S11 chip, higher-frequency heart-rate and HRV sampling, a readiness score and as much as 50 hours of everyday battery life. The 45-hour maximum extended-workout rating uses a specific reduced-power tracking mode; it cannot be compared casually with full-feature GPS runtime.
Phone, platform and software restrictions
Compatibility is a purchase condition rather than a footnote: iPhone 11 or newer running iOS 27; features and countries vary. Check the current companion-app version and the support page for your territory. A product name shared across regions does not prove that the same sensors, digital services, languages or alerts are enabled in each market.
Battery, charging and ongoing expense
Battery evidence at this cutoff: Up to 50 hours everyday / 84 hours low-power (Apple claim). Runtime is shaped by radios, brightness, tracking modes and battery age; battery capacity and a light-use maximum are not actual measured endurance. Ownership-cost detail: Optional Fitness+ and carrier service; satellite features vary by region. Compare the replacement-charger and support options rather than treating launch price as total ownership cost.
Limits and cautions
The size, price and iPhone lock-in are significant. The claimed heart-rate and GPS accuracy rankings come from Apple-controlled testing, not a WeraOne clinical or independent validation study. Audio Intelligence recap features were announced for later beta rollout and may remain restricted in some countries.
Who should buy it and what else to compare
A demanding iPhone runner or hiker can justify the Ultra 4 if satellite and duration modes solve real problems. Someone who only needs alerts and gym workouts should compare Series 12; users wanting even longer charging intervals should look at a Garmin fēnix and verify its communication subscription separately.
What independent evidence establishes
Wareable published announcement coverage of the battery and sensor revisions, not a completed independent field test at the time represented in this record. WeraOne has not personally tested this unit. Manufacturer ratings and product announcements must be read separately from independent use reports, and no wellness metric here should be interpreted as a medical diagnosis.
Pre-purchase checklist
Before ordering, confirm case diameter against your wrist, the exact cellular or Bluetooth SKU, charger support, update policy and the companion app. Maps, payment cards and regulated health features may vary by country. Make the choice around the tasks you actually perform every day.
