BenQ W2720i Review and Buying Guide: Who Should Buy It?
Editorial research, not a first-hand laboratory review. Verified documents and attributed external tests were checked as of 2026-10-23. Prices and live stock are intentionally excluded.

Buyer verdict
W2720i suits a permanent living-room or media-room projector where placement matters as much as HDR format coverage. Its moderate zoom range and small vertical shift mean measured throw distance is critical.
Specifications that influence the purchase
The manufacturer lists the following product-family characteristics; the actual market or size suffix still needs to match your purchase:
| Projection | 4LED DLP, 3840×2160 output |
|---|---|
| Light | 2,500 ANSI lumens manufacturer rating |
| Throw | 1.0–1.3:1; 1.3× optical zoom |
| Hdr | HDR10+, HDR10, HLG |
| Input | 4K60; higher input modes may be downscaled to 1080p |
| Lens | vertical lens shift ±5% |
TV and projector owners should match source output, HDR format, eARC placement, refresh-rate mode and room lighting before choosing a model. A high published refresh ceiling is not itself proof of low input lag, accurate colors or stable motion; measurements require a named independent bench test.
Limitations and real ownership trade-offs
2,500 ANSI lumens is an official rating rather than a measurement by WeraOne. It will not reproduce a high-end television’s punch in a bright room, and its HDMI 2.1 label must not be read as native 4K120 output.
Installation, compatibility and privacy checklist
Before purchase, draw throw-distance and wall-size geometry. The supported 4K120 signal path is downscaled, not 4K120 image output. BenQ lists HDMI-3 4K120 input downscaled to 1080p120; multiple ports differ.
Who should skip it — and alternatives
Skip it when the principal trade-offs above collide with your home, available budget or existing ecosystem. Epson LS12000 for ambitious permanent installations; a large TCL QM8L where blackout is difficult. Check local warranty and support.
How the evidence should be read
Test evidence: No WeraOne hands-on test is claimed here. Functional performance beyond documented features requires independent testing of the exact regional model and firmware.
The technical table records verified listings and explicitly labelled vendor claims; it does not substitute for testing brightness, sound, throughput, security or household performance. Unknown certifications and undisclosed specifications were deliberately not filled in by inference.
