What you should know
The 5G NXTPAPER version trades the large high-resolution 4G panel for mobile-network capability. It should therefore be treated as a materially different model rather than a storage or color option.
Hardware and display
Key published specifications for TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G: NXTPAPER-style display; 6.6-inch HD+ LCD; 5G cellular support; 50MP main camera. This configuration summary describes the cited product family; exact radio bands, storage, SIM arrangement and charger contents can vary by market. It should not be mistaken for a hands-on performance test.
Independent testing and real-world implications
TCL’s contemporaneous public announcement markets a reading-oriented finish but does not substitute for independent eye-strain or battery measurements. The value proposition is access to ordinary Android apps with a less reflective panel in compatible networks.
Drawbacks and regional variations
Its HD+ resolution is noticeably less detailed than a premium OLED phone, and it should not be mistaken for e-ink. Regional 5G bands and carrier approval can limit the benefits of buying an imported variant.
Who it is for — and alternatives
It fits readers who want 5G more than sharpness; compare the non-5G TCL 40 NXTPAPER and Galaxy A34 for a more conventional AMOLED experience.

Inspect model code, screen condition and current security patch before use as a primary device in 2026; independent review evidence remains limited.
