Home Assistant Green Review and Buying Guide: Who Should Buy It?
Editorial research, not a first-hand laboratory review. Verified documents and attributed external tests were checked as of 2026-10-23. Prices and live stock are intentionally excluded.

Buyer verdict
Home Assistant Green prioritizes automation control and integration choice over voice-assistant entertainment. It can be an excellent central brain if you prefer local routines and openly documented integrations.
Specifications that influence the purchase
Verified manufacturer or primary documentation identifies the following characteristics; pairing a feature with the right control platform still matters:
| Cpu | Rockchip RK3566 quad-core 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 |
|---|---|
| Memory | 4 GB LPDDR4X |
| Storage | 32 GB eMMC |
| Network | wired Ethernet |
| Radios | no integrated Zigbee/Thread radio; external ZBT-2 required |
Smart-home purchasing needs a protocol check rather than a logo-only decision: Matter controller, Matter bridge, Zigbee hub and Thread border router are different responsibilities. Local recording or local routines may still require cloud logins, firmware updates or external hubs. Regional electrical codes and privacy law remain the buyer’s responsibility.
Limitations and real ownership trade-offs
The box is not an out-of-the-box Zigbee coordinator or Thread border router, an easy mistake given the project name. Add a compatible radio and allow time for updates, backups and community integration maintenance.
Installation, compatibility and privacy checklist
Keep encrypted configuration backups, plan for UPS power and use role-limited accounts. Verify integration-specific cloud dependencies instead of assuming every connected product becomes local. Green vs Yellow hardware/radio distinction is critical.
Who should skip it — and alternatives
Skip it when the principal trade-offs above collide with your home, available budget or existing ecosystem. Aqara M3 if plug-and-play Zigbee/Thread matters more; Hue Bridge Pro for simple Hue lighting. Check local warranty and support.
How the evidence should be read
Test evidence: No WeraOne hands-on test is claimed here. Functional performance beyond documented features requires independent testing of the exact regional model and firmware.
The technical table records verified listings and explicitly labelled vendor claims; it does not substitute for testing brightness, sound, throughput, security or household performance. Unknown certifications and undisclosed specifications were deliberately not filled in by inference.
